TVD: Katerina - reaction thinky thoughts
The rarest ingredient of the curse-breaking ritual that will restore the vampires to their former glory is the Petrova doppelganger. The oldest vampire in the world has been searching for this person - who can only turn up in the Petrova bloodline (obvs) - for millenia. So, naturally, the first thing he will do when the doppelganger he discovers escapes from his grasp is to... wipe out the Petrova family and remove any chance of another doppelganger being born.

ETA: Plus isn't it LOLNOTFUNNYATALL that in the 15th century, women were giving birth on their backs mothers used to coach their daughters to push during labour?

*headdesk*

Unless he knew about the illegitimate child that Katherine had.

Did I miss something? I thought from "ROSE", the Originals had no idea that the Petrova bloodline still existed and Elena was a complete surprise to them.

Otherwise, won't Klaus have kept tabs on Katherine's descendants and already be aware of Elena's existence?

Ah yes, good point. I wonder if it's a goof on the writers part.

Or else Klaus knew, but lost track of the illegitimate child, but never informed some of the others such as Elijah. Cause in "Rose", Elijah was surprised at her existence, but it was never state if Klaus was. Especially since, as far as Rose knew, at the end when warning Stefan, Elijah was dead so why would Klaus continue to go after them?

That's a good point. It certainly makes the Petrova mass assassination make more sense. BTW, what did you think of the purple pushing labour scene in the first flash? I lol'd at the idea of a 15th century woman telling her daughter when to push during childbirth to say nothing of the horrendous image of Katerina labouring on her back. *face-palm*

Oh I know, that was horrible. LOL. Though I do give them credit for keeping "authentic" with the language speaking. Thankfully Nina Dobrev is fluent, otherwise I don't think they would've done it.

Nina Dobrev is a goddess of talent, beauty and bilingual genius. That's all.
