Er...what is this? I tried to watch the preview but the computer wouldn't let me and I've never heard of it.

Is it February yet?

How about now?

How about now?

(I got my copy of "Griffin" in the mail today. Gould says he wrote it to fit in with the film version of events. When have you ever heard of an author being so happy that a film messed with his story?)

OK. Everybody close your eyes and make a wish with me: F.R.A.N.C.H.I.S.E

Hayden's back, baby!

Heck, I might just make an icon if it! :D

I think it's really cool of Gould to make the movie canon with the Griffin character. I still haven't read the books - more is the pity! - but I need to ask you - is Millie also a Jumper?

Most curious. I'm sensing a cross between Bladerunner and X-Men, with a few other things thrown in. It looks very interesting.

For a minute I thought Morgan Freeman was in it, and I was wildly excited. Then I saw that it's Samuel L. Jackson. Who is also cool but...not quite Morgan Freeman. Oh well.

Is it bad that, while I'm certainly interested in seeing the film, I'm actually more interested in hunting down the original novel? ;)

I've done that.
It can go either way I found (I mean liking the book or film more)
Weird observation, I find which ever story I saw or read first is the one I like better...

About the trailer:
I am sooo excited for Jumper. It looks so awesome and I am so excited to see that a film of Hayden's will see the light of day.

I saw on imdb that Awake is due out in December now.
pffff I'll believe it when I see it :P
fialleril From: fialleril Date: October 11th, 2007 11:50 am (UTC) (Link)
I almost always like the book better. Provided the book came first, that is. Novelizations are different. In that case the movie is always better. ;)

Basically, whichever is produced first tends to be better, with a few exceptions.

I know absolutely nothing about Hayden's movies (besides SW, of course). :P I don't really follow actors...

I've now been inspired to make a list of books that became films, list which I saw/read first, then say which one I liked better.

There a few actors who's projects I follow.
Hayden and Ewan being at the top.
fialleril From: fialleril Date: October 12th, 2007 02:17 am (UTC) (Link)
I think the one exception to the rule that (original) book is better than movie is V for Vendetta. In that case, I liked the movie better.

Also, only once have I ever watched a movie because of who was in it. And that was Rudy, with Sean Astin. LOL.

I guess I tend to fangirl ideas more than characters or actors... I'm weird, I know.
frostbit_sky From: frostbit_sky Date: October 12th, 2007 03:07 am (UTC) (Link)
I didn't read V but heard how different it is.
And I liked the movie so much I didn't want to be disappointed by the book.

Aww.

That's ok. You're unique ;)

Word. :p

Nope, it's not bad at all. I've also placed orders for the books online. Alas, second-hand books don't ship to where I live right now. ::sigh::

I think SLJ and Freeman tend to be typecast as action hero and mentor respectively.

fialleril From: fialleril Date: October 15th, 2007 07:19 am (UTC) (Link)
Wait, it's more than one book? Blast! My reading list gets longer all the time... And I still haven't even read any of Philip K. Dick. *sighs*

Probably true... Which is a bit unfortunate. I'd like to see them reverse those roles sometime. It could be very interesting...

!

What are you still doing up? Isn't this past your bedtime? :p

What has Phillip K. Dick written?
fialleril From: fialleril Date: October 15th, 2007 07:25 am (UTC) (Link)
LOL! Oh yes. Way post. It's 3:30 in the a.m. here. :D But I'm just crazy.

Philip K. Dick wrote Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (which became the movie Bladerunner), as well as Minority Report and some other interesting speculative/dystopic sci-fi.

*g* Well don't blame me if in the morning you feel like climbing up walls. It's past 8 over here.

I've watched Minority Report and I thought it was a brilliant movie. To be honest, I've never watched Bladerunner and I don't even know much about the movie. My visual image of it tends to be mixed up with the Wesley Snipes Vampire Hunter movie.

I will forgive you that sacrilege because you are ignorant of the genius that is Bladerunner. But you must see it! It's one of the most artistic and thought-provoking movies I've ever seen, and one of my faves. Very deep, very dark. You'd like it. ;)
