Back in the good old days...

I laughed out loud when I read this. From Agatha Christie's The Sittaford Mystery which is part of the 1930s Omnibus:

"[about Violet Willet] Pretty girl - scraggy, of course - they all were nowadays. What was the good of a woman if she didn't look like a woman? Papers said buster were coming back. About time too."

Guess the papers got it wrong!
